World Photographic Cup 2016 Competition

The Singapore Photographic & Digital Imaging Trade Association (SPDA) is looking for images to represent Singapore in the coming World Photographic Cup 2016 Competition to be held in France. If you are a Singaporean residing in Singapore and you have images that you think may stand a chance to represent Singapore, then we welcome you to submit your photos.

The first round of judging will be carried out by the team of SPDA and its judges. Only 3 images from each category (18 images in total) will be selected to represent Singapore.

Please read the Terms and Conditions as stated below.
There are 6 categories in which you can enter and only 3 images in each category will be selected to represent Singapore. The images will be selected by SPDA organising party and its judges to select the best images to represent Singapore.

 

Rules and Regulations. Entries and Requirements

a. There are 6 categories in the World Photographic Cup 2016 Competition

•         Portrait
•         Wedding
•        Commercial (including advertising, architecture, industrial, fashion)
•        Illustrative/Digital art
•        Reportage / Photojournalism (**)
•        Nature (Landscape and Wildlife) (**)

(**) For this category the content of the image must not be altered. Only retouching which conforms to currently accepted standards in the industry is allowed. Only single-frame images will be accepted. Composite and multiple exposure images will not be accepted. The jury is the ultimate arbiter.

b. Individuals may be selected to represent their team in more than one category. However, no team may enter multiple images from a creator in a single category.

c. Once an image is entered, it cannot be entered again IN ANY FORM in the competition, whether in the current year or in any subsequent year.

d. The images must be anonymous and in the case of images pertinent to advertising campaigns, they must not contain any text or graphic elements, which were not part of the original exposure. Images containing text will be immediately disqualified.

 

Technical Requirements

a. Submissions will be entered via the WPC Online Entry System by each team’s designated administrator/coordinator using the supplied login information.

b. Images must be:

•        Parameters: 4000 pixels on the longest side
•        Format: jpeg 10
•        Imbedded profile: SRGB or Adobe 98

 

Awards

Individual awards

•        Digital Certificates will be given to all the individual team members
•        Gold, Silver, and Bronze medals will be awarded to the first, second
and third highest score images in each category (score compiled by
computed results).

 

Team awards

•        For purposes of computing team scores , points are given out to each
country. All finalists ( the top 10 photographers on each category), get
points from 10 (the golden medalist) to 1 (tenth place).

•        Certificates for the best TEAM entries in each category will be awarded
(each team member receiving a certificate).

•        Trophies will be awarded to the second and third place teams (based
on aggregated score of top ten placement in all categories).

•        The World Photographic Cup will be awarded to the national team
which receives the highest score (based on aggregate score of top ten
placement in all categories).

 

Judging Process

a. Images will be judged by a panel of international judges from around the world. Each accepted national team has the right to select and nominate 1 judge, so the number of the judges will be depending by the number of the national entered teams. Judges must be selected based on their photographic technique, experience, and previous training as a photographic judge. An association may elect to do not nominate a judge. Judges images may not be part of countries submission. Team administrator/coordinators may not be selected as judges. Judging will be blind and every image will be judged by each judge. But the scores for their own country will be taken out automatically. Selected judges must have an extensive national and international judging experience and will participate in “on line” training for this judging.

 

b. Scoring will be based on four categories, each of the 4 categories will contribute a maximum of 25% of the total score

•        Technical Excellence
•        Composition

c. Judges and members of the WPC Governing Body are not eligible to participate as individual team members.

Governing Committee & Support Structure

The World Photographic Cup Governing Committee will have final authority on all matters involving the WPC, administration, structure, teams, images, and judging.

  • All Cds submitted will not be returned.

 

Charges:

The fee for the submission is $10 per image.

Closing Date:

The closing date for the WPC 2016 competition is 22nd September 2015.
Results will be published in the WPC website and all winners will be notified through email.
